look who rolled over!
He has been working on it for months, but tonight the little guy got it right. Inspired by Santos, who was wisely sitting just out of reach, Finn finally made it from his back to his belly, and just one week shy of his six-month birthday. He looked so proud of himself when he made it to his tummy, like he finally was experiencing what life was like on the other side. Then he'd get a little overwhelmed and flip back over. But then he rolled back over THREE more times in a row. Now, I'm sure someday I'll wish that I could plop Finn down in one spot and know that he'd be right there when I return. But it was so thrilling to see him meet his most exciting milestone since his first smile.

the daddy show
Here's Finn, mildly amused by the Daddy song and dance show. Trust me, he was giggling like mad right before I started filming, but what can I say, he's a tough audience.
I removed the audio to protect Daddy's dignity.

future greenpeace member?
Here's Finn rockin' the cool sweater that Auntie Jenn and Uncle Alan got him in Peru. Doesn't he look like some sensitive college guy who volunteered in South America on spring break?Posted by lisa at 03:21 PM | Comments (0)

Fiona, you is my woman now
Today, Finn met his future first love, Fiona Gray Williams. And he fell for her right off the bat--look at how he just grabbed her and tried to pull her over. Way to play it coy, boy.

milk + rice cereal = crazy delicious!
He loves that rice cereal like McAdams loves Gosling.P.S. Can you even believe this is the kid who "wasn't gaining weight" as recently as two months ago?

Finn Hazen, future rocket scientist?
Here's Uncle Clintie at "zero Gs" as they say at NASA, helping conduct an experiment on the plane they call the "vomit comet." Despite the fact that he's a rocket scientist, the last time Clint was on this plane, he ate a bacon double cheeseburger shortly before. Suffice to say, he didn't make that mistake twice.Maybe Finn will inherit whatever scientific/mathematical genes that made Clint a rocket scientist but not the ones that prevent me from being able to calculate a tip from a restaurant check. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe by the time Finn grows up, everyone will be an astronaut or something. Maybe I should ask Clintie.

raspberries
Finn is in a phase right now where he wants to mimic everything we do. When you talk to him, he'll do his best to imitate your pitch and volume. If you laugh, he laughs. If you smile, he smiles. It's all very adorable. And Finn loves it when you blow little raspberries on his belly and cheeks. So it should stand to reason that his favorite new thing is imitate us doing this. He wants to practice all the time. In fact, during his 3am nursing time last night, he stopped, looked up at me and went "pfffffffft."

All of the sudden, I care about football!
I will admit that I didn't really start watching the game until halftime, even though I intended to start right at 3:30. But then, thinking opportunistically that no one would be at the grocery store during the Super Bowl (what kind of loser grocery shops during the Super Bowl?), I made a quick grocery run first. Unfortunately, many other losers had the same idea. But I got a great deal on avocadoes.I got home just in time to see the Rolling Stones and a giant mouth-shaped stage. Clearly, they weren't taking any chances with a Janet Jackson episode this year. Anyway, approximately two hours of football is all I could take, and I must say it was pretty interesting! There was some guy named "The Bus" who looked like a huggable bear and plowed through the opposition. The Seahawks coach looked like he was ordering Chinese food off a menu at several times during the game, but was really just carefully advising plays from behind the protective barrier of a laminated sheet. And I'd be remiss if I mentioned the firey rivalry between David Hasselhoff and Somebody Rothsberger.
At the risk of my husband sounding fey, he was more interested in the historical significance of each team's logo than the game, but he got into it, too. He was disappointed that his favored logo lost, but forgot all about it once The Simpsons came on afterwards.
Sorry to all the Seattle supporters. But in Pittsburgh, Grandpa Pete is certainly plotzing!

Go Steelers!
Imagine the conundrum if you're Finn. Your mom's from Pittsburgh, and your dad's from Seattle. Who do you root for in the Super Bowl? I mean, imagine the fireworks flying while watching the game!Well, that might be the case if your parents actually knew their relative teams were going to be in the Super Bowl before a week ago. That said, Grandpa Pete will absolutely plotz if the Steelers win, so Finn's throwing his support behind the Steel City. If only Iron City made formula, too!

Buddha Baby
If a binky falls in the forest, and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?P.S. If you look closely, you can see a tiny mohawk in the tradition of Maddox Jolie-Pitt.

happy birthday, Phoebe!
A year ago, a tiny little 6lb. girl who looked like a baby bird entered the world. She was so tiny that she had to be fed with a little nursing tube and all of her baby clothes absolutely hung off her. As you can see, Phoebe is a year-old hunk of baby love, and no frail flower any longer. We love our neighbor, Feebs! Happy birthday, sassy!
