babymania, indeed!
You may have looked at the photo below of me with my impossibly hot friend, Cari and thought "Hmmm... Lisa's letting herself go a bit, eh?" or maybe "Lisa's looking a little like Fat Jenna from 30 Rock." (Me want food!)
You were only half right, because yes, I am getting tubby, but I'm also currently three months pregnant. The baby is due in November, and we are all thrilled. I had to wait to tell you, Dear Internet, because we needed to make sure this was a healthy baby before we got you all excited. I hope you understand.
I am just coming out of what is hilariously called, "Morning Sickness" and not a moment too soon. A more accurate description for what it is like would be "A Neverending Cheap Beer Hangover Endured Whilst Driving Up a Winding Mountain Road." My stars, I don't think I've ever felt so crappy so consistently, and yes, that includes when I was pregnant with Finn. (Which seemed like a cakewalk.) At the worst point, I even barfed in the neighbor's bushes while walking Santos, which is something that has only ever happened as a college freshman after discovering something called "Quad Night" (just what college students need--four times the alcohol for one low price!)
Now that we're safely emerging from the first trimester, we told Finn last night that he's going to be a big brother. His three favorite neighborhood friends—Delilah, Ella, and Sammy—all have new babies in their families, and for months, he has been asking us if he can have a baby of his own. When making his case, he promised that he will share his toys, his food, and show the baby how to play "mountain" with the beanbags in the basement.
Finn was very excited when we told him, and asked a few funny questions. First, if he could have a baby in his tummy, too. (No.) Secondly, if he could feed the baby "tiny food." (Not yet.) Thirdly, if the baby could come out to play. (Again, not yet.)
Last night, he patted my tummy before bed and said, "Hello, baby! I'm your big brother. If you cry, I will bring you milk. Tell me when you want to play!"
It's going to rock his world, but at the same time, I think he's going to be a great big brother.
